200. MATT SIMMONS BACKPEDALING
There's a new interview in Barron's with Matt Simmons called "Twilight for Oil" (by Sandra Ward). Unfortunately, I can't link directly to the file because it's behind a subscription wall, but I will paraphrase Simmons' comments from memory. When asked about Jim Jarrell's deconstruction of his book "Twilight in the Desert", Simmons replied that Jarrell's analysis was excellent, but it made one critical error -- namely, Simmons claims he never said that Saudi Arabian production was about to collapse. He merely said that the Saudis would have a hard time boosting production from their current levels.

oooohhhhh. JD, you big stud. Taking on the big bad Peak Oil Doomers!!!
We need some moderators to start removing posts like the above.
I prefer to let their comments stand and speak for the other side. It's folks like Mr. Lemming that hurts the doomer/pessimist camp's credibility!
and it keeps people fired up and not bored with the site!!
exactly. if JD wasn't such a jackass, who would bother to check his blog out?
"I prefer to let their comments stand and speak for the other side."
Understandable, but these comments are just painful to read. Really, I don't think proof of the existence of people willing to make empty, painful personal comments tells us anything about the overall debate. There are plenty of substantive debates in the world that attract people like this.
the point is that the geologists economists ecologists etc. don't really visit this site do they?
The Doomer/Pessimist camp for Unhappy Consumers. People who don't want to buy the next happy craze, such as nanobikes, and buckyphones, and hydrogen fuel cellphones, and space elevators.
That matt damons is always making a pucky face!
